Annual report.
In plain terms
The MAIPF board must report annually to the commissioner, who reports to the legislature on the plan's effectiveness and on claimant demographics.
How this section works in practice
An accountability provision. Since the assigned claims plan moved to the Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility, its board of governors must report each year to the insurance commissioner (now the DIFS director), who in turn reports to the House and Senate insurance committees on how the plan is performing, including demographic information about who is filing claims and whose claims are being assigned. The reports are public and are the best available picture of how many Michigan residents are injured with no insurer to pay them each year.
